Qualifications and courses
What we offer and how we work
The Learning Centres offer two Information
Technology (IT) qualifications for those who use computers on a
regular basis, at home or at work.
-
Clait Level 1
-
ITQ Level 2
Experienced tutors
There is a team of dedicated tutors and
administrators in each centre that will provide you with an
individual learning experience, guiding and advising you through
your course from start to completion.
Flexible learning
The Learning Centres are open six days per
week, Monday to Saturday. Having the centre open six days per week,
and open until 9.00pm on four of those days, gives you greater
flexibility. There is no need for you to attend on the same
day or at the same time each week, but we do need you to attend
four hours each week.
One-on-one support
To get you started on the right course we
begin by booking you in for a 1-1 session to create your Individual
Learning Plan with a tutor. At this time, you will identify
with the tutor your reasons for taking the course, and what it is
best to include to ensure that the modules you take are relevant to
you. From there, your tutor will create your plan to include the
necessary learning and agree with you ongoing learning goals and a
final achievement date.
Manage your own learning
At the Learning Centre you will work
independently with the support of your tutors when required.
You can book in to attend tutorials – small group sessions led by a
tutor, designed for those times when there are specific areas you
need help with. Your learning materials are broken down into
easy manageable units of learning. They have been written to
support self managed learning and you can dip in and out of these
as needed.
Your progress will be reviewed regularly as
you work to achieve your ongoing learning goals.
Work at your own pace
The overall time taken to achieve your
qualification will depend on a number of different points. We will
take into account how often you attend, what skills you are
starting with and how confident you are using a computer before
agreeing your Individual Learning Plan.
